Sailing ship description

This beautiful 39 meter long training ship with auxiliary engine is a schooner, the largest class of sailing ships. She was originally built in 1916 as a herring logger without an engine. Later she was used as a freight ship in the Scandinavian waters. Ever since 1982 the ship is used as a sailing training ship with support engine. The width is 6,5 meters and the depth is 2,5 meter. When completely rigged, the total sail surface is 480 sqm. The engine is a 160 HP Deutz diesel and electricity is 220V, 380V.

Sail Baltic Sea and the North Sea

From mid-April to mid-October you can rent this ship for spectacular group trips on the Baltic Sea. In the winter the ship is docked in the Veerhaven, the most beautiful harbor in Rotterdam. The ship is then available for short or longer trips, but also for training on board and as stationary sleeping accommodation. On request the captain is open to change the departing harbor, so feel free to enquire about the options.

Who can get on board?

One might ask: "Who can go on board on such a big ship?" The answer is simple: everyone. You dont need any prior experience for this sailboat rental . You will be accompanied by a skilled and qualified crew. They will explain everything you need to know about sailing and any questions you may have about this historic sailing vessel. You will lift the sails together with them and your group. Truly a great getaway for a family, group of friends or a corporate retreat. The route will be determined in consultation with the skipper. This depends on the weather and wind at the time.

The layout of this sailing ship

On the deck of this amazing ship there is a common room which can seat up to 24 people, here you can find a buffet. The ship also has a professional 6-pit stove, large oven, fridge an freezer. The ship contains eight bedrooms, four 4-person rooms and four 2-person rooms. There are both male and female bathrooms with sinks and showers. There are two toilets on the ship.

Summer destinations

In general this schooner is docked in Kiel-Holtenau, Germany. The destinations are Denmark of the German coast, the Big Belt and the Sont. You can book the ship for short weekend trips or journeys up to three weeks. With the longer trips we can even sail as far as Sweden and Norway. Wherever you decide to go, you can be assured that the trip will be pleasant and comfortable. Thanks to the many islands in this area, there is always a sheltered space to be found where we can anchor or moor in a harbour. From there you can get on land and explore the surroundings.

Winter destinations

During the colder months we are docked in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Our harbour is called the Veerhaven, the most beautiful of the city if you ask us. On request we can go out for trips on the North Sea.

How to get there

This boat has two departing ports, Rotterdam in the Netherlands or Kiel in Germany. 

The boat is located in the Veerhaven. Found in the city centre of Rotterdam it's a location easily reached by both car and public transport.

Kiel is a city in Northern Germany, it has a small regional airport. However one can get there from Hamburg too.

About the area

While in Rotterdam you might want to visit some of these area's.

The Euromast was built in 1960,  with its 107 meter it was the tallest building of the city at the time. It has become a symbol of the city and now stand 185 meters tall, but it’s much more than just a tall building with a nice view. You can have diners, parties and even sleep here. Definitely worth a visit.

The Koopgoot is a shopping heaven, especially popular with locals. You can find all kind of shops here from well-known stores to specialty stores. It’s loved by locals and tourists for this, you can find the Koopgoot in city centre Rotterdam.

Often seen on postcards, the Erasmusbrug Over 800 meters long it’s the perfect connection between the northern and southern shore of Rotterdam. Often called the ‘’de Zwaan’’ (the Swan) it’s 15 meters tall.

The Markthal, (or Market Hall in English) was opened in 2014 and is the largest indoor market in the Netherlands. You can find a diverse offer of shops, bars and market stalls here. If you love modern architecture or food you this is a place you must visit this wonderful place.  

Zuiderpark is the biggest city park in Rotterdam being over 200 hectare. You can come here to relax when you have seen enough of the busy streets. But there are also a lot of sportive activities and events.
