Sailing ship description
The Perseverence, a classic 1-masted Tjalk, was built in 1902 and served as a freight ship until 1927. Then she was most likely used as storage space for fishing nets in the harbor of Makkum in Friesland, after which she was used as a floating home in Muiden near Amsterdam from 1947 till 1977. And finally she was taken out to sail the waves again - now with guests from all over the world. Quite a history, and now it is yours to enjoy!
The layout of the ship
Below the deck you will find a professional kitchen with oven and all the equipment to prepare a great meal. At least, if you don't want to go out for diner in one of the many restaurants in the harbor or, of course, downtown. In the communal area there is a flatscreen TV. The ship has central heating so you are assured to be nice and warm all through the year.
There are no separate cabins, but the bunkbeds are separated by curtains. After all, it is a ship, not a high end hotel room. There are two bunkbeds that are suitable for one person, or two if you really like each other. Therefore we can accommodate 14 using all beds as single beds or 16 if 4 guests use the two larger beds as double beds.
Our ship is still sailing, and thus offers a very authentic experience. The total length is 20 meter and the width is 4,5 meter. On deck you will find cozy teak benches to relax. As soon as you step aboard, you will feel like a real sailor that is for sure. When we go out sailing, know that there is an experience crew aboard - so no nautical experience is expected from any of your party.
The prices given are based on self catering, but on request we can arrange a catering party. Please inform about the options.

Super houseboat for a visit with friends
We stayed on the Perseverance for a bachelor party in January and could not have picked a better spot. This was a great way to stay together on a houseboat, giving the whole stay a very special touch. The harbor has a good connection with the inner city thanks to the tram that departs around the corner and brings you into town in about 20 minutes (to central station and Amsterdam East even quicker). We loved the ship, lots of character en good amenities. Thanks for having us. Amsterdam we love you!
