Sailing ship summary
Welcome aboard our sailing ship, ready to dock in the historic city harbor 'Houthaven' or, in English, the Wood Harbor. This amazing area offers a superb combination of old warehouses and state of the art architecture. The harbor was dug in 1876 and the ship that you may call your home was built in 1906 - quite a piece of naval history. Your stay will be comfortable thanks to recent renovations and the many amenities in the immediate surroundings of the pier. The unique thing about this houseboat is that it can accommodate up to 12 guests right in the city center - a unique feature for sure!
Sailing ship description
The living room is large and cozy, with a tv/dvd/audio installation. The open kitchen offers all the utensils you need to prepare a proper meal, also for larger groups, including a microwave, oven, fridge/freezer combination, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer.
The large windows in the ceiling let in lots of light, ensuring a bright atmosphere aboard. The authentic wooden floor and wood-stove contribute to the cosines of the ship, as well as the many nautical details such as the portholes and wooden walls and ceiling.
The bathroom has a shower, wash basin and a separate toilet.
The guests will sleep in beds divided over three huts. One hut offers three double beds, the second hut has two double (or large single) beds and the third hut has two single bunkbeds. Since you will be staying an an actual ship, these spaces are kind of limited, but we think this is largely compensated by the sense of freedom on the rest of this majestic vessel.
The deck of the ship is a great place to relax and enjoy the picturesque surroundings. We also offer the option to rent bikes and canoes for reasonable prices. And of course we provide information about things to do in the neighborhood, hiking and cycling routes.
Amsterdam city center can be reached by foot easily. On the West side the harbor is connected with the neighborhood called 'Spaarndammerbuurt' and on the other side you walk right into the buzzing Jordaan area.
So if you fancy a unique experience in an amazing rural setting, sleep aboard of a spacious hundred-ten-year old authentic ship and yet close to the vibrant Amsterdam city center, this is your perfect pick!

6 of us stayed on this beautiful boat during our stay. It was magnificent in every way
Martijn was kind and very accommodating and helpful whenever required. The boat was spacious, cosy and just the perfect way to experience Amsterdam. I also would encourage anyone staying to go on the boat trip as it was a great experience. I will 100% come back and stay again, it is brilliant.
Thanks again for everyone who helped make it possible

Simply perfect houseboat experience in Amsterdam
Me and my mates stayed on this amazing authentic ship - over a century of maritime history right in your face - in February. We have searched all the interwebs to find a suitable ship that could accommodate over 6 persons but were not able to find something. Until we found this lady. Our party started with a sailing trip over the IJ and surrounding waters of Amsterdam and we could discuss where we wanted to go with the skipper (easy going lad!) and drop the anchor for an unforgettable night on the wide open water. The next day we sailed to Amsterdam and docked in the Houthaven. The surroundings are just astonishing: old warehouses and brand new super modern architecture blend in this wonderful part of the city. We got off board and walked right into the Jordaan to discover this cool part of Amsterdam (although we did not get much further than Cafe Thijssen the first evening haha). Coming back at the ship was like coming home: great beds and lots of space to chill out. We could not have found a better ship, and it really had everything we needed: nice facilities, good beds, a cool atmosphere and lots of space. And all the flexibility to customize our trip to our needs. Thanks for an unforgettable experience!
