Amazing Private Luxury Boat Accommodation

Book it! This is a unique and not-to-miss occasion to build beautiful memories. We loved the boat, the proximity to the sea and the city center. The communication with Peter was always easy and fast. We stayed for 3 days as a family. The boat has fantastic design and light fall. Just 1 min to some nice places to eat, 3 min to the next supermarket and 5 min to the train station that takes you to the central station of Amsterdam in...

Amsterdam adventure

My birthday weekend in Amsterdam was certainly enriched by staying on Tom and Marlane’s ship! We had a wonderful, relaxing weekend… our hosts were most helpful… Skipper Tom even let me take the helm on our trip out! What a thrill! Thank you!! Clare x Had a super weekend staying on the Avontuur boat, thanks again Tom and Marlane, we will be back, Chris. Ben & Steve 👍🏻

Authentic Sailing Charter Close to Amsterdam

A quirky place in a really interesting location with great hosts. It's worth making sure you know when the ferry will take you back to the city, as this can turn a 15-minute drive into a very cold 1-hour drive. This may feel a bit claustrophobic if you want to spend longer time indoors...

Sailing into History: The Legacy of Sailing Ships in Amsterdam

Sailing into History: The Legacy of Sailing Ships in Amsterdam I. Historic Use of Sailing Ships in Amsterdam Amsterdam's story is closely intertwined with the sea. Established as a small fishing village in the late 12th century, the city rose to prominence in the 17th century, a period commonly known as the Dutch Golden Age. The city's booming economy was buoyed by its strong maritime industry and the extensive use of sailing ships for trade, exploration, and military purposes. Dutch East India Company (VOC) vessels, West Indiamen, and fluyts sailed from Amsterdam to all corners of the world, carrying goods ranging from spices and silk to grain and timber. These vessels turned Amsterdam into the world's foremost trading hub during the Golden Age, bringing untold wealth into the city.   II. Maintenance of Sailing Ships in Amsterdam Amsterdam's geography, crisscrossed by a network of canals, provided an ideal environment for the construction, maintenance, and repair of sailing vessels. Among the most iconic of Indonesian ships is the 'pinisi', a traditional two-masted sailing ship. These vessels were first constructed by the Bugis and Makassar people of South Sulawesi, who were renowned for their seafaring abilities.   II.
